Tips for Sticking With Your Long-Term Goals
After we finished a client’s coaching programme, she asked me if I had any advice for her going forward on her own.
Now, I generally steer away from giving my coaching clients advice as that’s outside the lines of my role as a coach (see this article for more on that).
But the question had me thinking about tips for keeping track with longer-term goals. Here are three lessons I’ve learned.
1. Hold yourself accountable by putting regular check-ins in your calendar.
This seems obvious but it’s SO important. If you plan to stick with long-term goals, accountability is key. When life takes over, it’s easy to lose track of time and go months without taking action. If putting the time in your diary isn’t enough to keep you accountable – recruit a friend. Or of course, you could always work with a coach!
2. Don’t forget to ask for help when you need it.
And don’t be shy about when you need it. Remember that nobody reaches their goals on their own! Not only is there nothing wrong with asking for help, it will only support your progress.
3. Remember to celebrate the progress you make, big or small.
Easily overlooked, I truly believe this tip is a must. Celebrating your progress will keep you feeling motivated and boost your mood and confidence, encouraging you to continue on your path.
I would love to hear from you. Send me a message and let me know if you find these tips useful!
Think a friend could use this today? Why not forward this on top them.
