The Key to Success (according to a monk)

We were lucky to have Swami Chidananda visit us again this week, and although he shared many words of wisdom, this is one message that I think will serve those in my community who I know are filled with big dreams.

Success can mean whatever you want it to mean. Love. Money. A nice place to live. A business that fulfils you. A family. Good health. A supportive community.

Whatever “success” you desire, you’re probably very focused on the practical actions you need to be taking. We’ve been taught to focus on DOING that we can easily forget about how we are BEING.

These steps that Swami shared are not steps that you do, but steps that you embody. How you show up in the world energetically and how you interact with others.

Here’s what Swami shared:

1. Be happy when you see others succeed

When you can genuinely cheer for others, you’re tapping into abundance and inviting more positivity into your own life. In contrast, jealousy sends the message to the universe that you don’t want what the other person has.

2. Learn to love what you do & where life has put you now ❤️‍🔥

Success arises from gratitude. Even if your current situation isn’t what you want it to be, embracing it can open doors to growth and new opportunities. It always has something to teach you.

3. Help others to become successful 🫂

When you uplift others, you create a ripple effect of abundance and fulfillment. The positive energy you share is always reflected back to you, and success grows when it’s shared.

Which of these resonates most with you? What would it look like to put these steps into practice today?
